How to pay less council tax?

 
Council tax is a fixed cost based on the value of your property and the council area your property is located in. If you are in council tax band A then you are already in the lowest price bracket and cannot raise a request to pay any less council tax. 


In order to pay less council Tax your property must have been incorrectly evaluated and placed in a higher council tax band, meaning you would be have been paying too much council tax and your property would need to be rebanded.

Once you have used the council tax calculator to find out what council tax band your property is in, you can check the council area charges use the council tax refund calculator. This estimates how much money you could save if your council tax band was revised and rebanded into a lower bracket. 

However you do need to be careful, as council tax rebanding can go either way and there is always a chance that if you make a claim and the property is reviewed, your council tax payments could increase.
